Kara Stubbs has extensive experience in the areas of products liability, particularly the defense of pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. She has defended pre-suit claims and individual cases and served the role of local, regional, and national counsel, particularly assisting with the retention and development of expert and company witnesses, developing the defense theme, and participating in mock jury trials. The depth of her product liability practice also encompasses the defense of manufacturers of construction equipment, flavorings, prepared foods, commercial fireworks, various consumer products, and children’s products. Her practice is also committed to the defense of premises liability matters for several national restaurant chains and various other commercial matters, including the defense of class action matters in Missouri and Kansas.
A Member of the firm since 1998, Kara has been an active member of various legal organizations over her career. She is a past chair of the Board of Directors for ALFA International, a legal network comprising 80 domestic and 70 international law firms. She is also actively involved in the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), DRI, and the American Bar Association (ABA). Kara is a co-chair of Baker Sterchi's Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Practice Group, and frequently authors papers and speaks at conferences around the country.
Prior to joining the firm, Kara served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas C. Clark of the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri. On Wednesday afternoons during the school year, you can find Kara reading to second grade students at Garfield Elementary School as part of her commitment to Lead to Read.
