Baker Sterchi Member Laura Beasley to Serve as 2021-2022 IDC President


Baker Sterchi Member Laura Beasley will serve as the 2021-2022 president of the Illinois Defense Counsel (IDC). Founded in 1964, IDC is a premier association of attorneys in Illinois who devote a substantial portion of their practice to the representation of business, corporate, insurance, professional, and other individual defendants in civil litigation.

Beasley has served in numerous leadership roles with IDC. She is also a board member of both the East St. Louis Bar Association and the State and Local Defense Organizations (SLDO) section of Defense Research Institute, a hearing officer for the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, and a member of the Illinois Supreme Courts Committee on Character and Fitness for the Fifth Judicial District. She is a past president and board member of the St. Clair County Bar Association and is a past, and the first woman, president East St. Louis Bar Association.

Having undertaken over 40 jury trials in both state and federal courts, Beasley’s practice focuses in the areas of civil litigation defense, general liability, class action/mass torts, insurance coverage, personal injury, and product liability. She represents individuals, institutions and corporate clients in all phases of litigation. 

Beasley earned her Bachelor of Science from Austin Peay University and her law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law. She is licensed to practice in Illinois and Missouri.
