Baker Sterchi Welcomes Eighteen New Attorneys from Foland Wickens


Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice is pleased to welcome eighteen new attorneys in Kansas City and Springfield as part of its merger with Foland, Wickens, Roper, Hofer & Crawford, P.C., effective Jan. 1, 2023.

Joining as members in Kansas City are:

  • Kevin Brooks, an insurance coverage and bad faith litigator. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
  • Clay Crawford, a coverage, bad faith, and catastrophic defense litigator. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
  • Scott Hofer, a trial attorney with a practice focused on the defense of bad faith and extra-contractual insurance claims, insurance coverage, commercial and business litigation, and sports. He earned his law degree from Washburn University School of Law.
  • Jackie Longfellow, a civil defense and employment litigator. She earned her law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.
  • Jim Maloney, an appellate, civil and insurance defense litigator. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law.
  • Christopher Mirakian, a civil defense trial lawyer practicing in the areas of complex civil litigation and insurance defense. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
  • Kyle Roehler, a trial lawyer with a practice focused on catastrophic personal injury defense, transportation, insurance coverage and extra-contractual liability, construction defect, and product liability litigation. He earned his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.
  • Philip Sumner, a civil defense trial lawyer practicing in the areas construction law, product liability, personal injury, premises liability and extra-contractual liability. He earned his law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Also joining in Kanas City are Ryan Cox as of counsel; Paul Wickens as senior counsel; Cary Miller, Karen Read, and Robert Reynolds as senior attorneys; and Torey Darin, Grant Henderson, Linden Hoffman, and Carly Iverson as associates. Jeffrey Coffey joins as an associate in Springfield.
