Tom Rice Selected for 2026 Missouri Lawyers Media ICON Award

Missouri Lawyers Media has selected Baker Sterchi Member Tom Rice as a recipient of its 2026 ICON Award.

Rice is among 30 distinguished men and women age 60 and older recognized for an exemplary legal career, service to the Missouri legal community and success beyond the field of law. Honorees include founding partners, firm leaders and former public officials who have held senior decision-making roles within their firm or organization.

Rice has been a practicing trial attorney for nearly 50 years. His practice focuses on product liability, pharmaceuticals, employment and insurance litigation matters. He has tried cases in multiple states for various Fortune 500 companies and coordinates national, regional and industry-wide litigation.

He is a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel and the Product Liability Advisory Council and serves on the steering committee of ALFA International’s Labor & Employment Practice Group.

Rice joined Baker Sterchi in 1982 as one of the firm’s four original attorneys and was instrumental in developing its litigation practice and strengthening relationships with major corporate clients as the firm expanded. In recognition of his leadership and contributions, the firm name was expanded in 1996 to Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC.

He has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America (Kansas City metropolitan area) for his work in litigation involving insurance, labor and employment, mass tort and class actions and product liability and has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers every year since its inception in 2005. Most recently, he was recognized in The Legal 500 U.S. Elite City Focus for Missouri commercial disputes, Tier 1.
