Benevides and Stubbs Recognized by The Legal 500 for Missouri Commercial Disputes

Baker Sterchi Members Jon Benevides and Kara Stubbs have been recognized by The Legal 500 U.S. City Elite Focus for Missouri Commercial Disputes. Benevides is ranked in Tier 1 and Stubbs in Tier 2 of the Lawyers category. Both practice in the firm’s Kansas City office.

Benevides represents corporate clients, including Fortune 500 companies, in complex civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on transportation, product liability and consumer protection matters. He handles cases through trial in state and federal courts in Missouri and Kansas and advises transportation carriers and insurers on legal matters affecting the trucking industry. Benevides serves on the steering committee of ALFA International’s Transportation Practice Group and is a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel.

Stubbs represents manufacturers in complex product liability, mass tort and class action litigation, particularly pharmaceutical and medical device companies. She has served as national and regional counsel in mass tort litigation and has defended nationwide class actions involving technically complex products and highly regulated industries. Stubbs co-chairs Baker Sterchi’s Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Practice Group and has held leadership roles with ALFA International, the American Bar Association, DRI and the International Association of Defense Counsel.

The Legal 500 defines Commercial Disputes broadly to include complex business-to-business litigation and, depending on the market, product liability matters. The category recognizes attorneys handling sophisticated disputes involving significant exposure, complex facts, major corporate clients and regulated or technically complex industries. Selections are based on independent research, recent work and client and peer feedback.
