Baker Sterchi Secures Defense Verdict in Nearly $5 Million Construction Dispute

Baker Sterchi obtained a complete defense verdict for Zipco Contracting, Inc. following a five-day jury trial in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri.

The case arose from a construction project at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. After water pipes ruptured and caused extensive damage to a residence hall, the plaintiff alleged that work performed by Zipco caused the loss and sought nearly $5 million in damages.

The jury rejected all three claims against Zipco and returned a complete defense verdict. On the negligence claim, the jury found the plaintiff 100% at fault.
