Janae Maxwell

Janae Maxwell is a civil defense attorney with a practice focused on premises liability, personal injury, product liability and insurance defense. She approaches her advocacy with passion and zeal, always prioritizing her clients' goals.

Before joining Baker Sterchi, Janae served as an assistant public defender with the Public Defender's Office in Liberty Missouri. In this role, she represented indigent defendants in various criminal matters, skillfully managing a caseload of over 100 clients at any given time. This experience equipped her with the necessary skills to thrive in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations and to effectively multitask. Additionally, she gained invaluable experience in case preparation at both the pre-trial and trial levels.

With over five years of prior experience as an insurance claims representative, Janae possesses a comprehensive understanding of property damage subrogation claims, effective negotiation strategies with adverse insurance carriers, and the successful resolution of liability claims.

Janae earned her law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where she served as an intern with the Public Defender's Office in Kansas City, Missouri, and her undergraduate degree in psychology from Alabama A&M University. She is licensed to practice law in Missouri.
