Christopher Mirakian Selected to Join International Association of Defense Counsel

Christopher Mirakian, a Member in Baker Sterchi’s Kansas City office, has accepted an invitation to join the esteemed International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC).

Established in 1920, the IADC is a by-invitation only global legal organization exclusively for attorneys representing corporate and insurance interests. With approximately 2,500 members, including many from FORTUNE 500 companies, the IADC focuses on developing skills, professionalism, and camaraderie among its members to benefit clients and contribute to the civil justice system and society at large. As a founding member of DRI and Lawyers for Civil Justice, the IADC holds significant influence in the legal profession.

Membership in the IADC involves rigorous vetting. For outside counsel nominations, one member must nominate and two must sponsor the individual. The Membership Committee carefully reviews nominations and seeks input from local IADC members. Approved nominees are presented to the Board of Directors for final approval and offered membership.

At Baker Sterchi, Mirakian represents individuals, companies, and insurance carriers in complex civil litigation and insurance defense. His litigation experience encompasses negotiation and resolution of complex real estate, property management, and construction disputes and defending liability claims, including personal injury, premises liability, wrongful death, products liability, and construction defects. In recent years, he has successfully handled numerous high-profile premises liability cases involving alleged failures to provide security against third-party criminal acts.  Moreover, Mirakian is well versed in insurance litigation, particularly in addressing "bad faith" and extra-contractual claims against insurers for breach of contract and statutory vexatious refusal to pay.
