Baker Sterchi Member Kara Stubbs has been chosen as a 2019 Missouri Lawyers Media Women's Justice Awards honoree in the "Litigation" category. Since 1999, the Women’s Justice Awards has recognized women across Missouri who have showed leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession. The awards honor women in various segments of the legal community, including the bar, the bench, public office, business, academia, nonprofits and the state at large.
A Member of Baker Sterchi since 1998, Stubbs has extensive experience in products liability litigation, particularly the defense of manufacturers of pharmaceutical and medical device products, construction equipment, flavorings, prepared foods, commercial fireworks, and various consumer and children’s products. Her practice also involves the defense of premises liability matters for several restaurant chains and various other commercial matters, including the defense of class action and multi-party matters in Missouri, Kansas and throughout the country.
Over her career Stubbs has been an active member of many legal organizations, from serving as an Executive Committee Member and Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Missouri Bar Association nearly two decades ago, to currently serving as Chair of the Board of Directors of ALFA International, a non-profit premier network of 80 U.S. and 70 international independent law firms. She has also been actively involved with the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), American Bar Association (ABA), Defense Research Institute (DRI), and Missouri Bar Association, where she served in various chair, vice-chair, and liaison positions.
Besides having been chosen as a 2019 Missouri Lawyers Weekly Women's Justice Awards honoree, Stubbs has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers® in America in the “Product Liability Litigation – Defendants” category for the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, Who’s Who Legal: Life Sciences, and Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers. She has also been recognized by the Missouri Bar Association with “Valuable Leadership” and “Outstanding Service to the Bar” awards, and by Medmarc Insurance Company with “Attorney Honor Roll” and “Outstanding Advocacy” awards.
This year’s Women’s Justice Awards honorees will be recognized at a cocktail reception and dinner on April 25 at the Four Seasons St. Louis. Winners will also be profiled in a special section of Missouri Lawyers Weekly in April.
