Baker Sterchi Member Megan Stumph-Turner to Co-Chair 2021 LLS Man & Woman of the Year Campaign

Baker Sterchi Member Megan Stumph-Turner has been selected to co-chair the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society 2021 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign (“LLS MWOY”) in Kansas City.

LLS MWOY is a ten-week fundraising competition held between February and June each year where influential men and women from the community compete to raise the most money for LLS. Candidates raise contributions in various ways, including letter-writing campaigns, personal asks, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events, silent and live auction items, and social media campaigns. Funds raised from the campaign help develop cures and ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients.

Stumph-Turner is a prior MWOY Kansas City candidate, honored in 2019 as a runner up for raising nearly $70,000 to fight blood cancer in honor of a family member lost to Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She served on the MWOY leadership committee in 2020. As a 2021 co-chair, she will assist with the overall planning and management of the Kansas City campaign.

Her involvement with the LLS MWOY campaign is just one example of her commitment to community service in the Kansas City area. Stumph-Turner has volunteered for Lead to Read KC, mentoring young students through one-on-one reading sessions, and has served on the Special Prom Committee for the Earl O’Connor Inn of Court.

Located in Kansas City, Stumph-Turner practices in civil litigation with an emphasis in the areas of creditor’s rights, financial services, real estate, and commercial litigation. She has obtained favorable jury verdicts for clients in construction and personal injury matters, dozens of favorable bench trial judgments for her banking clients and hundreds of favorable rulings on summary judgment.

She editor and lead contributor to Baker Sterchi’s Financial Services Law Blog, providing guidance and breaking news to banks and other financial institutions across the country. She also serves as the Kansas City Social Committee Chair and Kansas City Women’s Affinity Group Liaison to Baker Sterchi’s Diversity Committee.

Stumph-Turner was awarded the Missouri Lawyers Media Up & Coming Award in 2019, an award conferred on early-career lawyers demonstrating professional excellence while making a positive impact on their profession and communities.
