David C. Vaughn IV is an associate in the firm's St. Louis office who focuses his practice on civil defense litigation, including medical malpractice, professional liability, personal injury, premises liability and other complex litigation. He represents physicians, hospitals, health care providers, businesses and other individuals and institutions in litigation.

David has experience handling cases from inception through trial, including taking and defending depositions, developing case strategy, working with expert witnesses, briefing and arguing dispositive motions and representing clients at trial. He has served as first and second chair in civil trials and has obtained a defense verdict in a wrongful death action.

David also works closely with in-house counsel, claims professionals, risk managers and other client representatives to evaluate claims, develop litigation strategy and communicate case developments and expectations throughout the litigation process.

David is active in DRI, serving as first vice chair of the Young Lawyers Committee and as a member of the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee. He has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America, St. Louis Metropolitan Area for Medical Malpractice Law - Defendants and Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants, as well as Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers: Rising Star.

Outside the office, David enjoys running, staying active, reading and spending time with his wife and son. In 2019, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
