James Jarrow

Jim Jarrow is a Member of the firm and co-chair of Baker Sterchi’s Trucking Practice Group with deep experience in all phases of litigation, including appeals. His practice extends to product liability, mass tort, automotive, trucking, agricultural, pharmaceutical, medical device, life and health insurance, disability insurance, legal malpractice, and premises liability matters. Jim litigates matters in courts across the United States and has successfully handled cases valued at more than $130 million. Because Jim actually tries lawsuits, he obtains better results at mediations since opponents are aware of his favorable track record and willingness to go to court.

In addition to his thriving litigation and appeals practice, Jim is a lecturer and trial practice instructor, sharing his wisdom with other lawyers. He has authored numerous articles and publications.

Baker Sterchi Scores Win for Retailer at Trial

BSCR defended a retailer sued by a shopper who was struck by a falling object. Plaintiff claimed a cervical injury that resulted in a cervical fusion. Plaintiff claimed permanent range of motion limitations in her neck due to the fusion.

Eighth Circuit Affirms District Court's Grant of Summary Judgment for Baker Sterchi Insurance Client

The Eighth Circuit affirmed entry of summary judgment in favor of an insurance client in a Kansas City federal court case. The Eighth Circuit found that the federal court did not err in concluding that the agreement in question had a "follow-the-settlements" provision; did not err in finding another state's six-year limitations period barred plaintiff's challenges to claims submitted by defendant; nor did it err in finding the statute had not been tolled. . .

BSCR defended client Swift Transportation Company at trial in a case where a Swift tractor-trailer allegedly turned left in front of a motorcycle at an uncontrolled intersection on a four-lane highway.
