John Watt defends businesses in complex, bet-the-company litigation. As co-chair of Baker Sterchi’s Construction Practice Group and co-chair of the Product Liability Practice Group, his practice includes construction litigation, design professional liability defense, surety litigation, complex commercial matters, and toxic torts and product liability litigation.

John has successfully tried cases before juries, judges and arbitration panels on matters involving troubled projects, surety indemnity matters, defective design claims, defective construction and trucking litigation. He is uniquely skilled at taking and defending expert witness depositions, particularly in high value matters across the country.

An active member of ALFA International’s Construction Practice Group, John currently serves as co-chair and marketing chair of the group and has co-chaired recent seminars. He is also a member of the National Bond Claims Association and the Product Liability Advisory Committee. In addition, he provides pro bono legal services for indigent clients through the Volunteer Attorney Project.

John’s recognitions include the Missouri Lawyers Media Construction POWER List since its inception, The Best Lawyers in America for construction law and construction litigation in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers.

John earned his law degree with honors from Boston University School of Law.
