Katherine Cortesy Receives Wisconsin Defense Counsel Young Lawyer and Publication Awards
Baker Sterchi attorney Katherine Cortesy has been selected to receive the Wisconsin Defense Counsel’s (WDC) 2026 Young Lawyer Award and Publication Award.
The Young Lawyer Award recognizes an attorney within 10 years of their first bar admission who has demonstrated excellence in their work and achievements. The Publication Award recognizes a well-written, cutting-edge article published in the Wisconsin Civil Trial Journal. Cortesy received the award for her article, “Privacy Please: The Case Against Recorded Medical and Vocational Examinations,” published in the journal’s spring 2026 issue.
Based in the firm’s Madison office, Cortesy handles insurance defense litigation with an emphasis on personal injury, products liability and medical malpractice. She is a member of WDC’s Women in the Law Committee and Young Lawyer Committee. Cortesy earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School and is licensed to practice in Wisconsin.
WDC is a statewide organization of defense attorneys dedicated to supporting Wisconsin’s civil defense bar through education, professional development and advocacy. Cortesy will be recognized in an upcoming issue of the
Wisconsin Civil Trial Journal and during WDC’s Annual Business Meeting on Aug. 13.
