Laura Beasley Co-Authors IDC Quarterly Article on Non-Lawyer Involvement in the Business of Law
Baker Sterchi Member Laura Beasley co-authored the article, “Rewriting the Business of Law Through Non-Lawyer Involvement,” published in the first-quarter edition of the Illinois Defense Counsel (IDC) Quarterly. The article discusses how outside investment and non-lawyer participation could influence how law firms operate while raising ethical and regulatory considerations for the profession.
Based in the firm’s Belleville office, Beasley focuses her practice on civil defense litigation. She is a past president of the IDC and serves on its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and Legislative Committee. She is also a member of the Executive Council Class of 2027 for the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and a hearing board officer for the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. In addition, she serves as Illinois state representative for DRI and is a board member of the East St. Louis Bar Association and the St. Clair County Bar Association.
The Illinois Defense Counsel is a professional organization for attorneys who defend civil lawsuits in areas such as personal injury, toxic torts, professional liability, product liability and commercial litigation. The IDC Quarterly features articles addressing tort and defense issues affecting the legal profession.
