Nicholas Ruble Quoted by Built In Regarding Non-Compete Agreements

Baker Sterchi attorney Nicholas Ruble is quoted in a recent online article published by “Built In” regarding factors to be considered by individuals when presented with a non-compete agreement. Ruble discussed considerations for employees, former employers, and prospective employees when it comes to negotiating, drafting, and enforcing agreements to protect against unfair competition.

In the article, Ruble notes “most employees, when they sign on, are excited to get started, and so they’re not generally thinking about the end of their employment with their prospective employer,” adding that “the Great Resignation has recently shifted the balance of power toward workers, making it more possible to successfully negotiate for a better non-compete agreement.” He added that employers should consider the protectable interests at stake in these agreements.

Located in Baker Sterchi’s Kansas City office, Ruble is an experienced employment and labor law attorney.  He is a steering committee member of ALFA International’s Labor & Employment Practice Group and a member of Defense Research Institute’s Employment and Labor Law Committee. Ruble received his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and is admitted to practice in Kansas and Missouri.
