Nick Ruble Guest Lectures on Successful Internship Tips at UMKC Law Mini-Term

On May 13, Baker Sterchi Member Nick Ruble was a guest speaker at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law at a mini-term class focusing on tips for a successful summer internship. The class is a one-week, one-credit hour session designed for 1L and 2L UMKC Law students embarking on their first legal internships. Students will intern at prosecutors’ and public defenders’ offices, civil defense law firms, administrative agencies, and other employers.

During the half-day presentation, Ruble led a discussion covering topics such as professionalism, producing high-quality work product, maintaining work-life balance, and lawyer ethics. He provided guidance on building a professional network, navigating generational gaps among lawyers, asking the right questions, and artificial intelligence, alongside other relevant topics.

This class is presented each semester by UMKC’s Career Services Office to help students transition into the practice of law. Ruble is a 2011 alumnus of the UMKC School of Law.
